Web Designer for All Girls Allowed’s “Red Sea Project” Website

Estimated Number of Hours commitment required over a 2 month period:

Design and Development: 20-40 hours

Maintenance: 5 hours/week for duration of project

Project Description:

The Red Sea will be a website dedicated to hosting user-submitted videos contributed by people all around the world who are, in their own way, restoring life, value and dignity to girls and mothers in China.  The vision of the project is to unite every global effort for change in this area and to document, celebrate, and further the mission to see Gendercide ended for good.  Motion-media has been a game-changing catalyst for change, and bringing light to individual efforts to combat Gendercide is extremely important.  Through the Red Sea project, we’ll be able to raise awareness and inspire a movement of ordinary people like us to rise up and stand for justice. This website will be the hub for the campaign, allowing viewers to watch individual stories and submit their own.  Think of it as part online film festival, part video gallery, part movement.

There will be some artistic direction, but we want to collaborate with the designer to give as much artistic freedom as possible.  Technical aspects that the website must feature include a submission mechanism where contributions may be viewed by All Girls Allowed before display on the website, a voting mechanism that will allow a user to interact with, nominate, and vote on submissions within categories, and bandwidth capable of hosting many videos.  Videos must be share-able, but no new framework (commenting, discussion boards, etc.) is necessary within the site as we plan on using facebook, twitter, and email to get the word out and keep the discussion going.

Deliverables:

A website with the above requirements, due by March 1st.

Professional Prerequisites:

Must be able to furnish a resume and examples of previous work.  Experience with websites featuring video a plus. Samples of your work will form the basis of review.

Along with Resume and Samples of work, please send a written proposal detailing how you’d approach the project to valerie@allgirlsallowed.org

Social Media Campaign Project

Description of the project:

A social media campaign is a focused marketing push toward an organization's goal, whether it's boosting attendance at an event, fundraising for a specific project, or spreading awareness about a program or issue. The campaign should create community and drive traffic to the All Girls Allowed website with the main goal of increasing donations.

Deliverables:

Professional Prerequisites:

Must have:

·  Ability to articulate clear goals of a campaign and develop a strategy to reach them
